What’s Sharetivity?
Your friends are a trusted source of information, as they find some interesting content, they will share it... Sharetivity aggregates all of your network’s sharing making it available to search for when you have a need.
In case your network doesn’t have anything related to the query we also give you Google results on that query.
So you find a interesting holiday destination or an informative blog, you can share with any social method you like, FaceBook, email, even straight to Sharetivity, we save it all.
Obviously more of your friends that contribute as they find interesting stuff on the web the richer the search experience will be.
The beautiful thing about Sharetivity is we don’t need you or your friends to do anything new, Share as u normally would, email, post to FaceBook or Twtter, everything will be available for searching by your search network.
Sharetivity allows a Group of friends to pool their sharing of web content to enhance their searching experience
How does it work?
1. Create an account with Facebook connect or just register. We’ll pull in all your shared links/likes from Facebook.
2. Invite some friends whose shared links you think you’d find useful in searching. More friends, better search results.
3. Drag & drop the browser plug-in to your browser. This will allow you to share interesting web content and it will be available for search for you and your friends.
That’s it!!
If I share something to FaceBook, Twitter, MySpace etc will that also be saved?
Yes, all your shared content is in one place
Can I post to multiple sites, like Facebook, Twitter, etc?
Yes you can, just select the sites you want to send it to on the 2nd tab on the browser plug-in. Select the sites you want it’ll post to all of them at once.
Can I configure the browser plug-in to select the services I want?
Yes, on the 2nd tab on the widget it says at the bottom "Don’t see your communities" it let’s you select the ones you want and remembers them via a cookie. If you clear you’re cookies, you’ll have to reset them
Can I select multiple sites to share with my friends?
Yes, when you open the browser plug-in it’ll automatically recognize the page you’re on, you can enter the email addresses of the classmates you want to send your research to. Instead of hitting send, hit save. Keep repeating this for all the sites you come across that you’d like to share. We’ll collect all the sites you save. When you are ready to send, hit send and we’ll send the sites you’ve wanted to share with your friends/classmates.
How can I select only certain content from a webpage, i.e. an image or a paragraph or two?
On the 1st tab on the widget it has "Cut&Paste" This will break up the webpage into short paragraphs and images and you can select only the content you’d like to share.
Who can see the content I’ve shared?
Your friends can see the content you’ve shared. In addition, the content is anonymously displayed at Sharetivity.com, so you can benefit from the research from others and others from yours.
Who can see the discussion?
The discussion is only viewable by the people you’ve shared it with. Think of it as a private email dialogue but better.
Where is the discussion board?
On your feed in the home page you can click on the article or where it says "Comment" in red.
Can I reply to the group?
Yes just click on "Post a comment" on the discussion board.
Can I respond to just one person in the group?
Yes just click on reply and choose the person you would like to respond to.
How can I hide what I’ve shared?
Next to the article there is a x. Just click on that and it will ask you if you’d like to hide it.
How can I see who’s viewed the content?
On the discussion board page you can click on group list.
Is there a separate forum for each piece of content added?
Yes.
If the discussion becomes too active how can I limit the number of emails/notifications I get?
On the discussion board, click on settings and you can control the number of responses you get.
